Chamber golf outing popular at Bayside

The Bethany Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Fall Golf Outing next Thursday, Oct. 12, but spots are already limited in the popular event. Chamber officials said late last week that only six foursomes were remaining for the tournament, which will take place at Bayside Golf Course on Route 54 in Selbyville for the second year in a row.

Interested golfers should call the Chamber at (302) 539-2100, ext. 15, or register with a credit card online at to reserve one of the final spots at the popular tournament. Registration costs $700 a foursome.

“We’re excited to be at Bayside,” said Karen McGrath, the Chamber’s executive director. “It’s an honor and a pleasure. Last year was the first tournament on the course and I’m looking forward to seeing how good it will look (this year).”

Chamber Events Manager Amy Tingle, who runs the annual fundraiser, said that having the tournament at the relatively new Bayside course has only increased its success. Former host courses for the tournament include Bear Trap and Cripple Creek.

“It’s always been pretty popular, but switching it to Bayside has increased its popularity,” Tingle said. “It’s a fairly new course, so everybody is anxious to sign up.”

Only those who register as foursomes will be guaranteed a spot in next week’s tournament, which will begin Thursday with registration at 10 a.m. and a shotgun-start at noon.

Tournament officials will award prizes to the first- to fifth-place net scorers, the first-place gross scorer, and winners of the longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contests.

Registration includes a grilled lunch, a goody bag, a T-shirt, access to the beer cart and snacks, use of the driving range at Bayside and admission to the awards ceremony following the tournament.
