Candidates file in Ocean View

Ocean View Town Manager Conway Gregory announced Jan. 22 that two candidates have filed to run in April 12’s elections for the town council seat representing District 3, while one candidate has filed for the office of mayor. Both Mayor Gary Meredith and District 3 Councilman Norman Amendt are term-limited and cannot run for re-election.
Author Gordon Wood has filed in the mayoral race, while retired professor of political science Perry Mitchell and resident Susan White have filed for the council seat representing the District 3 area of communities West View, Meyle Estates, Rosegate East, Savannah’s Landing, Hunter’s Run and Bridle Ridge.

The deadline to file to run for mayor is Feb. 27 at 4:30 p.m. Candidates for the council seat must file by 4:30 p.m. on March 13. Voters must register with the town to vote and must do so by March 31. Those who have not voted in either of the prior two elections must re-register. Elections are set for April 12.

Voting for both mayor and councilpersons is at-large. Any registered voter in the town may vote, regardless of the district in which they live.
