OV hops into fundraising with event

The first fundraiser for the Ocean View Historical Society will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Dunes Room at Bear Trap in Ocean View.

In addition to music by D.J. Don Minyon, mayor of Millville, the Sock Hop and Silent Auction will have refreshments available for purchase.

Silent auction items include, among others, a print from Laura Hickman; a print from Aubrey Duncan; a $50 Beach Cottage gift certificate; a $50 Series E bond from Taylor Bank; a $50 gift certificate from Delaware National Bank for Steakhouse 26; a $50 gift certificate from Grotto Pizza; and a handmade doll cradle made by Jim and Betty Beck.

“We have over 43 items for the silent auction and are getting more each day,” said Felice Arnold of the Ocean View Historical Society.

Arnold said the room can hold 150 people and tickets are moving, so she urged those interested in attending to call today.

She also noted that The Den at Bear Trap Dunes is offering 25 percent off dinner for anyone who eats there before the Sock Hop.

“We want everybody to come!” said Arnold. “It’s a good chance for the community to see that we are moving ahead with the museum.”

She also added that membership forms to join the Ocean View Historical Society will be available at the event.

Tickets cost $10 per person. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call Felice Arnold at (302) 539-9174; Mary VanScoyoc at (302) 537-7783 or JoAnne Weber at (302) 539-1636.
