BREAKING NEWS: Millsboro convenience store robbed two nights in a row
The Delaware State Police are probing two separate robberies that occurred at the Dash In located at 24851 John J. Williams Highway near Millsboro early this week. The robberies occurred on subsequent nights, early on Monday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 2.
The first incident occurred Monday, Dec. 1, at 3:05 a.m. In this case, police said, an unknown suspect entered the store and demanded money from the sole clerk, a 53-year-old Millsboro resident. The suspect, armed with a handgun, received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the store on foot in an unknown direction, they said. The female clerk was not injured.
The suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 140 to 160 pounds, and between the ages of 18 and 30. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a black hood, light-colored blue jeans, brown cotton gloves and a white hockey mask. Surveillance images were released in hopes of identifying the suspect.
The second incident occurred Tuesday about 1:16 a.m. In this case, an unknown suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money from a different 53-year-old Millsboro resident who was working as the clerk at that time. That clerk also complied and gave the robber an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect in this case was wearing light-colored blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and a mask of some sort, according to police. He was described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall. A surveillance image of the second subject was also released.
In both of these incidents, police said, the clerks were not injured. Detectives said Tuesday that they were actively investigating the robberies and were exploring the possibility of the same person committing both robberies. However, whether that was the case had not been determined, they emphasized, and investigators were seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects depicted in the surveillance images.
Anyone with information on the identity of these persons is asked to call investigators at Troop 4 at (302) 856-5850, ext. 255, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Tips may also be forwarded to law enforcement through the tip line maintained by Delaware Crime Stoppers on line at www.tipsubmit.com.
