The Town of Millsboro at the town council’s Jan. 5 meeting approved the annexation of 10 acres of land around the new Peninsula Crossing Shopping Center – home to the new Lowe’s and BJ’s. The acreage, which is highway-fronting and commercially zoned, is set to be used for retail use sometime in the future.
According to Millsboro Development Coordinator Linda Johnson, the new shopping center, developed by Millsboro Town Center LLC – a three-person partnership – has already been a real plus for the town.
“BJ’s was taken aback by the number of job applicants,” she said. “And it was the biggest membership drive of any store.”
The 19-unit building directly to the north of BJ’s is not quite into the permit-pulling stages, so Johnson said none of the future tenants are set in stone yet, but she did say that a WSFS bank was coming into the front area of the center and the far corner near the Lowe’s light will eventually be home to a Royal Farms convenience store.
“It’s a big plus for the town,” she said of the center.
