With the appointment of a Board of Elections taken care of, the Town of Millville is set to move toward a March 7 election, which will determine who will fill the three open seats on the town council. Elections will be held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the town hall. Those elected on March 7 will hold their position for the next two years.
Incumbents Donald Minyon and Richard Thomas will return to the ballot, in hopes of retaining their council seats. Running against them are candidates Joseph Calvarese and Mike Jeffers. All candidates, in accordance with town code, are residents of Millville and have been nominated for candidacy.
The voting itself will be overseen by the Board of Elections, two judges and one inspector, who will conduct as well as count the vote. The Board of Elections was announced at the council meeting on Feb 9 as: Margaret King, James Koozer and Susan Lyons.
Those elected will join council members Gerald “Gerry” Hocker Jr. and Jon Subity, whose terms will expire this time next year. From the five elected members, a mayor and deputy mayor will be selected.
