The Barefoot Gardeners Club of Fenwick Island will be holding their annual plant sale on Saturday, May 23, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1600 Coastal Highway at the corner of James Street and Coastal Highway, by Pottery Place.
The sale, hosted by the club of about 50 members will feature many different types of plants.
“We’ll have vines, like moon flowers, a lot of locally grown beautiful annuals; we’ll have geraniums this year, grasses, herbs and succulents,” explained Vivienne Jennings, co-chair of the sale and member of the Barefoot Gardeners Club.
Proceeds will benefit area civic or community projects. The mission of the club is to “broaden the knowledge of gardening and related subjects, as well as striving to beautify the community.” In the past, the club has worked on beautification of the Fenwick Island Lighthouse, planted bulbs in the median strips of Fenwick Island and has done work at the Butterfly Garden at the gazebo near Fenwick Island Town Hall, where story hour is held for children five times each summer.
This year’s story hours will be held on Saturdays, June 20, July 4 and 18, and Aug. 1 and 15, starting at 10 a.m.
