Advertisements on television, radio and in magazines recognize Verizon Wireless as one of the largest and most rapidly growing telecommunications providers, and with a new store location popping up in Millville recently, many of their local customers can breathe a little easier.
“A lot of customers are happy we’re here,” explained Tammy Broadhurst, manager of the new Millville location, on Friday, March 26, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the store. “There are still some people that don’t know we’re here yet, but we also have repeat customers already.” The Verizon Wireless store, located in the Millville Town Center, beside Giant Foods, opened in early February, and now that the weather is steadily warming up, more and more people are finding out about the new location.
“We opened up just before the snow,” noted Broadhurst, “and the weather may have turned away some business and kept people inside, but we’re seeing more people now.”
Until this store opened its doors, Verizon Wireless customers or those wishing to set up a new account were forced to travel to Salisbury or Dover for access to a corporate store.
“We can pretty much do anything that our corporate stores provide,” Broadhurst added. “We’re devoted to providing the best wireless experience you can find. We try to solve the customer’s issues before they leave the store. Our company’s goal is focused around customer service, and that’s what we’re all about. We’re going to do whatever we can do to make sure that anyone who steps into our store is completely satisfied.”
The majority of customers stop in for minor issues with their Verizon Wireless phones and other devices. Upgrades, opening new accounts, loaner and replacement phones, and phonebook data transfers can all be handled at the Millville Verizon Wireless store. The store has even seen a number of transfers of providers.
Regional Manager Mike Brannock asserted that not every wireless provider is working with the customer’s best interest, the way Verizon aims to.
“We’ll work with the customer, all the way through,” he said. “We’re not trying to sell them a phone and get them out the door. We want to make sure people are taken care of. We’re a premium store and offer a lot to our customers.”
The Millville location also offers Dish Network, a direct broadcast satellite television provider.
“It’s something else we offer here, separately,” noted Brannock. “Customers can come into the store and set up installation dates or have their customer service questions answered.”
“This area has a lot of potential for Verizon,” said Broadhurst. “A lot of the people walking into the store are out shopping, and they just happen to see that we’re here. We’re already starting to see weekenders coming into town, and they like knowing we’re around. If they’re in the area on vacation, they don’t have to worry about waiting until they head back home to take care of their cell phone problems.”
Verizon Wireless has already worked to embed itself into the community, as well, providing a donation to Children and Families First, a private, non-profit social service agency, centered on strengthening families and communities.
“We’d like to work closely with Verizon Wireless,” noted Marcie Urgo, a development coordinator with Children and Families First. “We’ve been active in the Cell Phones for Soldiers campaign, with locations in Georgetown for people to drop off old cell phones and chargers to be recycled and given to soldiers overseas. This would be a great opportunity to continue working closely with the community.”
