Business partners Deniss Klimins and Alexs Buinovskis didn’t exactly know what to anticipate when they opened the new delivery and carry-out pizzeria in the Millville shopping center halfway through the summer season, but since opening less than a month ago, they’ve already picked up steady business.

“We had a great first weekend,” said Klimins. “We didn’t know what to expect, but business has been crazy, and people are very happy we’re here.”

Fox’s Pizza Den, situated beside the Wachovia bank in the Millville Town Center, near Giant, may not accommodate diners inside, but that’s not stopping them from keeping the customers smiling and coming back for more.

Klimins and Buinovskis have put in years as managers at Papa John’s and Pizza Tugo’s in Ocean City, Md., before they decided to put their know-how together for a venture of their own.

“We know what we’re doing,” said Klimins. “We wanted to bring it all together and bring something different, too.”

And Fox’s Pizza is much more than your run-of-the-mill pizza joint. Their “wing ditties,” available by the dozen or half dozen and coated in mild, hot, barbeque or garlic parmesan (also available plain), are actually one of the Den’s top sellers.
“People tell us that they’re the best wings they’ve ever tasted,” Klimins added.

Specialty pizzas, such as the Deluxe, Bacon Double Cheeseburger Pizza, Chicken Rancher Pizza or Veggie Pizza, can come in a variety of sizes, from a small, 9-inch pies all the way up to the “Big Daddy,” a 2-foot-by-1-foot, Italian colossus, sliced into 21 pieces.

“Our deliverers tell us how amazed our customers are when they drop off the ‘Big Daddy.’ They love seeing it,” he said. “Everyone is crazy about that one.”

Don’t see a specialty pizza you’re looking for? Choose from over a dozen toppings to whet your whistle, or put them in a stromboli. Hoagies also line the menu. If you’re still looking for something else, unwind with a “wedgie,” a Fox’s Pizza Den original, fitting a hearty sandwich between a 9-inch pizza crust.

But the menu at Fox’s Pizza Den doesn’t stop there. A variety of salads, including buffalo chicken, taco and chef salads, are available, as well as other appetizers, like jalapeno poppers, breaded zucchini slices, bread sticks and wedge fries.

And Fox’s Pizza Den carries with it a guilt-free aspect, as everything – even the appetizers – is baked, not fried.

“We cook everything in our ovens,” said Klimins. “Our food isn’t fat and greasy like other places. Everything is a little healthier, and it helps us stand out from other places.”

Fox’s Pizza Den has spread nationwide from its original debut in 1971, Murraysville, a Pittsburgh, Pa., suburb. The Millville location marks the franchise’s only Delaware location after a short-lived Dover establishment.

“We’ve got a great place here [in Millville],” said Klimins. “There’s not as much foot traffic, but people still see us. I believe we’ll do well. We’ll stay open year-round for the locals. People are already coming back. I think they’re happy we’re here.”

Fox’s Pizza Den is located in the Millville Town Center, adjacent to Wachovia. They are open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. until midnight, for delivery or pick-up.
