Grief is not something anyone really likes to talk about, although in time, it affects everyone indiscriminately. Whether grief stems from the loss of a loved one, divorce, separation or sickness, the holidays and the time leading up to them are often harder than usual to bear. In light of this, Energy Gym, located near Selbyville, is hosting a special event for members and their guests.
On Nov. 16 at noon and Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. the gym is hosting classes that will be lead by Sharon Welch, Founder of Natural Solutions Inc. and The Spirit Organization. Welch is a grief and wellness specialist, author and teacher and offers private grief therapy and spiritual advice and life coaching.
She is moving to the area and will also be offering her wellness program at the gym starting in January.
“It’s to help people right now, whether through death, loss of health or job, or homes,” explained Welch, who started her journey after losing her own father 18 years ago at Christmas time. The presentations and many of her programs are based off her book, “The Art of Forgiveness and Self-Healing.”
She said she has recently been targeting fitness clubs because often no matter the grief, many people still keep up gym memberships to offer themselves some type of consistency in their lives, something she says she teaches, as working through grief and keeping the physical body healthy is all part of the process of healing.
Gina Hall, owner of Energy Gym, said they are excited to host Welch and to have her bring her wellness programs as well, calling her a “good fit for our gym.”
The free outreach presentation outline includes Coping with Grief and Change After Loss and Coping with Changes and Grief During the Holidays and Special Occasions. Both are Nov. 16 at noon and Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. and have an open forum for questions and answers. There is also a tele-call available on Nov. 17 for people that might not be able to get out.
