On Sunday May 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Cordrey Center at East Coast Garden Center will host its first Beer, Wine and Garden Tour Festival.
“It is the first one we’ve ever done,” explained event coordinator Ruth Dingwall. “Basically I just thought since the Cordrey Center is at a Garden Center I thought it would be something different. A lot of times there are events for fundraisers and things like that and this isn’t. It’s just something fun to do at the garden center.”
For a $15 admission fee, purchased in advance or at the door, attendees can sample beer from Delaware’s own 16 Mile Twin Lakes Brewing Company and craft brew from Evolution, and wine from Fenwick Wine Cellars among others.
Dingwall also noted that there will be a number of “local, unique vendors” who will have various items on display and available for purchase.
“I know one lady is bringing wine bottle lamps, cheese trays, things like that,” she said.
The event will also host two Gardening 101 classes, one at 11:30 a.m. and the other at 2 p.m., which run approximately 30 minutes.
“It’s just a class for people to learn about basic rules about planting and things like that,” she said.
Dingwall noted that the event will be a great time for all to enjoy the beautiful spring weather on the Center’s patio while sampling drinks and learning a thing or two about gardening.
“It is the first time we’ve done this so I hope we get to reach out to a lot of people… Hopefully it goes well.”
