On Sunday, Oct. 23, the Greater Millsboro Chamber of Commerce will host the Little Miss Millsboro Pageant from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Millsboro Town Hall. Chamber Coordinator Amy Simmons said that the town has been holding the pageant for more than 20 years, allowing young girls from the 19966 and 19939 area codes to compete.
“At this point, we have eight participants,” said Simmons. “There’s the 4-to-7 age group, which is the Little Miss. There’s the 8-to-12, which is the Junior Miss, and then the 13-to-16, which is the Teen Miss Millsboro.”
Reigning Miss Delaware Maria Cahill will emcee the event and even interview the contestants.
“They’ll have their interview time with her,” explained Simmons, “and then they are allowed three minutes for a talent.”
Simmons said that the pageant will be judged by local pageant winners. Winners will receive sashes, and the contestant crowned Little Miss Millsboro will receive a trophy. She noted that the pageant is run solely by the Chamber and is not affiliated with other pageant organizations.
The public is welcome to attend, with a $2 admission fee. Children 5 or younger are admitted free of charge.
Simmons said that she hopes that this year’s pageant will be a success and that it will continue to grow in the future.
“I’d like to have more contestants,” she said. “I would really like to see the pageant grow. I’m looking forward to the talent of the girls of Millsboro.”
