The Town of Ocean View will be holding a public hearing on May 8, at 6 p.m. to allow residents to meet with a senior representative from cable provider Mediacom.
“It is to provide Ocean View an opportunity to talk directly with a senior representative from Mediacom,” explained Lee Brubaker, interim town manager, “for them to opine on what they feel about the service and make recommendations.”
According to Brubaker, following a brief presentation by the Mediacom representative, they will then listen to concerns and take questions from residents in attendance.
The Towns of Ocean View, Millville, Bethany Beach and South Bethany jointly hired the Cohen Law Group of Pennsylvania last year to help negotiate their upcoming and separate contract renewals with Mediacom, hoping to strengthen their positions going into the negotiations and deal with complaints from customers within their towns.
“[Our attorney] has presented a proposed modified agreement to the Mediacom legal department for their legal review. It’s now with their attorney and the consortium’s attorney. There has been no report back to the towns as to what has happened so far.”
Brubaker said he hopes that Ocean View residents who have concerns about their service will attend the hearing to learn more about the provider.
“People are invited to attend and get a face-to-face with Mediacom,” he said.
