ELDERinfo will host a free information session titled “Financial Assistance for People with Medicare” on Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Frankford Public Library. Those interested in attending are being asked to sign up at the front desk of the library by Aug. 29.
“I’ll do a brief overview about Medicare,” explained Jane Aglio, assistance director of ELDERinfo, SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program).
She said she will also review attendees’ financial assistance program and how to renew Medicare and prescription drug plans for 2013.
Aglio said ELDERinfo representatives go all over the state and offer free Medicare counseling, help with billing and answer questions.
“We also have a ‘Welcome to Medicare’ seminar,” she said. “We do a lot!”
ELDERinfo is Delaware’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and is funded in part by a grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. They are part of the Delaware Department of Insurance.
Registrants at the August information session will learn how to save money paying for Medicare Part A and B premiums and prescription drugs.
People can also call ELDERinfo to set up a free counseling session with a trained volunteer. There is no charge for the service. Counselors with ELDERinfo are volunteers with extensive training on health insurance and can provide one-on-one counseling in an objective and confidential manner.
