A 24-year-old Millsboro man was in serious condition this weekend, following an early morning shooting at a local event venue.
According to the Delaware State Police, on Sept. 8, about 2:30 a.m. a physical altercation inside the Millsboro VFW — which was rented out for a private party — resulted in several rounds being fired and striking the Millsboro man in the upper body.
“I’m sure there was probably a disagreement that led to a fight outside and gunshots being fired,” said DSP Public Information Officer Master Cpl. Gary E. Fournier about the incident.
Fournier said that the identity of the suspect was unknown and that police did not even have a description of the suspect. He added that the type of weapon used was also still unknown early this week.
Following the shooting, the unnamed victim was placed in a vehicle by friends for transport to a hospital and was met by an ambulance on their way. The victim was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds.
“I do not have any update as to his condition,” added Fournier early this week.
