D’Ortone’s dine-and-donate to benefit Justin’s Beach House

D’Ortone’s Homestyle Italian Restaurant & Tap will host a dine-and-donate event on Thursday, April 25, from 4 to 9 p.m. during their dinner service, and patrons don’t even have to do anything extra to help raise funds for Justin’s Beach House! The restaurant will donate 20 percent of all the proceeds off regularly-priced menu items to the respite house in Bethany Beach.

Nick D’Ortone, owner and head chef, said they have held similar nights for other organizations in the past, including one for Lord Baltimore Elementary School in February.

“We try to do one to two per winter, from December to April,” said D’Ortone. He said they have come to know Craig and Mary Ellen Nantais, the parents of Justin Jennings who founded Justin’s Beach House, and realized they would like to help.

“It’s a really good thing that they are doing and a really good charity to benefit.”

D’Ortone’s Homestyle Italian Restaurant & Tap is getting ready to start their third summer located off Cedar Neck Road in Ocean View. D’Ortone said business has been going well and each year they are adding menu items and continuing to grow their business. He said it was important to them to be in the community, and the dine-and-donate event is a great way to do that.

“We are just trying to reach out into the community and support different charities and organizations — just trying to work together,” he said.

Justin’s Beach House and the Justin W. Jennings Foundation have a mission to “support and maintain a home in the Bethany Beach area where families with cancer can have a place of respite and enjoy some fun family time.”

The house is located at 844 Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach. It was built in memory of Jennings, who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 19. For more information on the organization, visit http://www.justinjennings.org.
