TOWN OF SOUTH BETHANY
PUBLIC NOTICE OF ELECTION ON MAY 25, 2013

South Bethany residents will go to the polls on Saturday, May 25, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Town Hall to elect three (3) Council Members, each of whom will serve a two-year term.

Absentee ballots are available for any resident who is not able to vote at the Town Hall on May 25, 2013. If you wish to vote by Absentee Ballot you must first request an Affidavit for Absentee Ballot. Residents who need to obtain an Affidavit may do so by mail (Town Hall, 402 Evergreen Rd, South Bethany, DE 19930, phone (302-539-3653), fax (302-539-7576), or e-mail (townclerk@southbethany.org). If you prefer, the Affidavit can be downloaded from the Town’s website at the bottom of the Election Information page. After receipt of the Affidavit, the Absentee Ballot will be mailed. Residents must file the written Affidavit with the Town no later than 12:00 p.m. on May 24, 2013. If you prefer, or if there is not sufficient time to receive the Absentee Ballot by mail, you may come to the Town Hall between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to complete the Affidavit and receive an Absentee Ballot. The Absentee Ballot must be filed with the Town no later than 3:00 p.m. on the day of the election; i.e. MAY 25, 2013.

VOTER QUALIFICATIONS
1. Have attained eighteen (18) years of age;
2. Be a citizen of the United States;
3. Be registered under the Town’s voter registration ordinance (if one
is in effect); and
4. Have been either:
a. A “freeholder” (any natural person who holds title of record either in his/her own name or as trustee to a fee simple estate or a life estate in and to real property located within the corporate limits of the town) in the town for a period of ninety (90) consecutive days immediately preceding the date of the election
b. A “resident of the town” (any natural person who has been physically residing within the corporate limits of the town for at least 9 months, consecutively or nonconsecutively, of the twelve month period immediately preceding the date of the election and who is physically residing within the Town on the date the election).
c. The spouse of a FREEHOLDER whether their name is on the deed or not.
