The third annual Fore! Associa Cares Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the GlenRiddle Golf Club in Berlin, Md. The charity event, presented by Legum & Norman, will again donate its proceeds to Associa Cares, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which will distribute them to victims of both natural and manmade disasters.
Last year, the tournament raised more than $26,000, all through the support and contributions of participants and local businesses.
Rounds of golf, golf lessons, golf equipment, restaurant gift certificates, shirts, hats, gift bags, and even the trophies and awards, were all donated by local businesses to support the effort.
This year, a vendor fair is being added, in conjunction with the tournament, where local vendors can donate to the cause while promoting their products and services, for $500 per table. They’ll also be able to mingle with Legum & Norman managers.
After the tournament, Associa Cares will present Joanne and Frank Lynch with a check for $2,500. Their home in Berlin was recently destroyed in a fire that was fatal for their family dog.
Recipients considered for donations do not necessarily need to live in a community managed by Legum & Norman.
“It could be anyone,” tournament co-chair Donna Murray explained, “someone we have read about in the paper or even heard about on the radio.”
While it is a national charity, all the money raised by Legum & Norman’s Resorts Division will stay in the Delaware Eastern Shore area.
As of mid-week, there was still plenty of room for entrants, and the charity was encouraging golfers to continue to sign up. The $125 entry fee includes breakfast, lunch, greens fee, cart and range balls for the 18-hole scramble. Corporate sponsorships are als oavailable.
Registration and breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. at GlenRiddle Golf Club, at 11501 Maid at Arms Lane in Berlin, Md., on Sept. 12. The shotgun start is at 9 a.m.
