This Friday, the Town of Ocean View will hold the first of its two Concerts in the Park for the summer. On June 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., the band 33 1/3 will perform. On Aug, 15, again from 6 to 8 p.m., Oh Boy! will return to the park. The concerts, which are held in John West Park, are free and open to the public.
“They play classics from the vinyl era,” explained Town Manager Dianne Vogel of 33 1/3. “They are the same band that played at Homecoming, and they will be coming back to kick off the concert series.”
At all the concerts, Boy Scout Troop 281 will be selling grilled hotdogs and drinks, while Mister Softee will be providing free ice cream to attendees.
Vogel noted that last year’s concert series was very well attended, with one evening drawing more than 500 people.
“Get there early, and bring your chairs,” she advised.
Vogel added that she hopes the weather for the concerts will be beautiful and that members of the community take the opportunity to enjoy a fun night of free music.
“I just think it builds a sense of community and allows people to get together who know each other and some who are meeting for the first time. People who might be new to Ocean View can just get a sense of what we have to offer.”
John West Park is located at the intersection of West and Oakwood Avenues in Ocean View.
