The Bethany-Fenwick Chamber of Commerce’s offices were broken into recently, with an estimated $4,000 worth of electronics stolen.
“We were broken into,” said Executive Director Kristie Maravalli. “It happened overnight, and they got in through a back window. When we came in Monday (Dec. 29, 2014) and saw that it had happened we called the state police.”
The chamber offices are located in the unincorporated area of Sussex County, between Fenwick Island and the Fenwick Island State Park on Route 1.
“Luckily, not too much was taken,” said Maravalli. “It really has not affected our day to day, which has been positive.”
“... It sounds like [the state police] have a few leads. We’re hoping for the best of a bad situation,” she said. “We’re just happy nobody got hurt and that it was minimal.”
