With the official rain-or-shine race day set for Saturday, May 9, the deadline to pre-register for the Bethany Beach Breast Cancer Run/Walk has arrived.
While runners and walkers will be able to sign up on race day, pre-registration will close this Friday, April 10, for those looking to lock in the $25 pre-registration fee for adults and $15 fee for children, as well as being guaranteed their free race-day T-shirt. Children younger than 10 can participate in the event for free.
The fun-run 5K or 3K walk are themed this year, as “Treasure Your Chest,” with runners encouraged to dress up in pirate gear to support breast cancer awareness, while helping raise funds for the Little Pink Houses of Hope and Vance Kane Memorial Fund through the Beebe Medical Foundation in the process.
To add to the festivities, runners are even being encouraged to bring their leashed pets to run or walk, as well, and tunes will be provided by D.J. Seaside Jimmy.
Everyone is also being encouraged to join fellow participants at the “Yo, Ho, Ho & Bottle of Rum” happy hour on both Friday, May 8, and after the Saturday race, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Sedona in Bethany Beach.
Same-day registration for the event will be held from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., on May 9, with the race getting its start at 9 a.m. at Bethany Area Realty on Garfield Parkway.
For out-of-towners who wish to participate, the Holiday Inn Express Bethany Beach is offering discounted rooms for those signed up for the race.
