The Friends of the Millsboro Library are preparing to host their annual book sale to support the children’s reading program at the library. This year, the sale will be held over the course of two weekends, beginning July 28 with a members-only preview night from 6 to 8 p.m. The regular sale hours will be July 29 and Aug. 5 from noon to 7 p.m., and July 30 and Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Organizer Jan Thompson said that, while the period for donations for this year’s sale has ended, the public has donated approximately 7,000 books, including titles from more than 80 popular authors, such as John Grisham and James Patterson, as well as biographies, cookbooks, DVDs, CDs, children’s books and large-print books.
All hardcover books will be sold for $2, with paperback books going for just a dollar apiece. On the last Saturday, patrons can participate in a flash sale, paying $5 to fill a bag with as many books as can fit inside.
Thompson said that, in the past, people have told her this particular sale is the “best book sale, because you can find what you want” and some of the books “come looking like they haven’t been read.”
The sale will take place in the Boy Scouts “hut” next to the Millsboro Public Library on State Street in Millsboro.
