After dropping their sixth straight games with a loss against Hagerstown on Tuesday, Aug. 23, the Delmarva Shorebirds this week prepared for one of their final homestands of the season, when the Lexington Legends come to town on Friday, Aug. 26.
The losing streak started on Friday, Aug. 19, in a series against Lakewood.
Delmarva fell in that matchup, 8-2, following up with a 4-2 loss against the BlueClaws the next night and losses of 9-6, 3-1 and 9-6, before losing their opener in the series against Hagerstown, 4-2, on Tuesday.
As of Coastal Point press time on Wednesday, Aug. 24, the Shorebirds were in last place in the South Atlantic League, with a 21-36 record — 13.5 games behind the first-place BlueClaws — with only 12 games left to go this season.
Their homestand against Lexington will start on Friday, Aug. 26, and span three games through Sunday, Aug. 28.
Promotions during that stretch of schedule include a beach towel giveaway for the first 1,000 fans, in addition to “Big Beer Friday,” fireworks on Saturday and “Kids Run the Bases” on Sunday.
