Next month, local pickleballers and even those ready to pick up a paddle for the first time will have a chance to learn firsthand from one of the game’s best, when the reigning Women’s Mixed Doubles Pickleball National Champion Sarah Ansboury makes her way to the first state for a week-long tour.
Ansboury will be making appearances throughout the area starting on Thursday, May 18, and spanning through Friday, May 26, heading to Georgetown to conduct lessons and clinics at the Sports At The Beach Complex from Monday, May 22, through her final day in Delaware on Friday, May 26.
The visit will overlap with the First State Pickleball Club’s fourth Annual Beach Blast tournament, held from May 19-21, giving Ansboury the opportunity to volley for serve with Beach Blast participants at the Dave Marshall Tennis Center at the Plantations in Lewes.
Originally from Turlock, Ca., Ansboury and her family moved to the Pacific Northwest where she embarked on a career in junior tennis. While continuing her competitive career, she eventually began teaching tennis as well before making the full-time move to Pickleball in 2014.
A Pro Lite “Rebel” pickleball paddle personally signed by Ansboury will be raffled off at event, to help raise money for FSPC to advocate in Delaware.
The public is invited free to watch and learn more about pickleball.
