Samuel R. Mitchell, 66, of Delmar, Del., passed away in the care of his family and Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Md. He was born in Millsboro, Del., to the late John H. Mitchell Sr. and Effie M. Dickerson Mitchell.
Mitchell was a retired farmer for Townsend’s. He was a member of the Salt Water Cowboys in Chincoteague, Va. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseback riding. He was known to be very cantankerous, opinionated and a real character. You got it straight on — no stabbing in the back.
In addition to his parents, Mitchell was preceded in death by a son who died in infancy, as well as three brothers, Arthur Warren, Kendall T. Warren and Donald Warren. He is survived by his significant other of 27 years, Deborah Mowbray of Delmar; a son, Samuel R. Mitchell Jr. of Seaford, Del.; a daughter, Amy L. Mitchell of Milford, Del.; a sister, Anna Lee Hudson and her husband, Terry, of Dagsboro, Del; two brothers, John H. Mitchell and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Dagsboro, and William Peter Warren of Louisville, La.; and many extended family members and friends.
