'Hard Hat' party showcases project

Passerbys on Route 1 have certainly noticed the frenetic pace of construction at the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce’s Visitors Center and office building. The chamber staff is inviting members of the chamber and the community in to see the work in progress.

A “Hard Hat” party is planned for Tuesday, April 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Chamber Visitors Center and office on Route 1, Fenwick Island. With a $20 donation to the capital campaign fund guests will find beer (courtesy of NKS Distributors), wine, soft drinks and great hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of Fat Tuna Grill. The first 100 in the door also receive a commemorative hard hat. Attire for the party is casual.

“We wanted members who had already donated to the capital campaign, and those who have not yet contributed, to see the scope of the project and how much work has been done to date,” said chamber Executive Director Karen McGrath. “The party gives people an opportunity to appreciate what a beautiful showcase the finished product will be, and at the same time make a small contribution to the campaign.”

Donors to the capital campaign ($300 or more) will have an engraved tile on the frame of a tile mural to be mounted in the new conference room. The original of the mural design artwork will be on display at the Hard Hat party. Local artist Laura Hickman created the piece specifically for the tile mural and has donated her time and talent.

RSVP for the April 12 Hard Hat party to Membership Director Carrie Subity at 539-2100, ext. 12 or carrie@bethany-fenwick.org.
