May opening date for Ocean View restaurant

NorthEast Seafood Kitchen, the new restaurant by Matthew Haley and Bryony Zeigler (the creators of Redfin Seafood Grill in North Bethany Beach and Fish On! in Lewes), will open this May in Ocean View.

Haley and Harry Geller teamed up to develop Fish On! and now NorthEast Seafood Kitchen (NESK). The partners make up the parent company SoDel Concepts.

Haley said NESK will focus on providing quality product, efficient and knowledgeable service, with a warm atmosphere and reasonable price point. The restaurateur has cemented his relationship with the southern Delaware culinary community in the past six years with his involvement with successful restaurants, cooking lectures and charity events.

The menu will reflect Haley’s noted simplistic approach to seafood, with a specific focus on Northeastern Atlantic classics. Chef Jason Dietterick, who has worked in Haley’s kitchens for the past 4 1/2 years, collaborated on the menu to create sophisticated, yet approachable food that satisfies fine to casual tastes.

Fresh fish and shellfish will dominate the menu, using only species indigenous to the Northeastern waters. Traditional dishes, such as lobster rolls, chowders, braised monkfish, fried Ipswich clams, Waldorf salad and Boston creme pie will provide the kitchen’s inspiration.

According to Haley, Matt Cunningham (general manager of Fish On!) and NESK G.M. Jay Allen have put together a well-considered, but concise wine list and an all-bottled beer list that showcases the best Northeastern breweries.

Bryony Zeigler (designer of Redfin and Fish On!, and operating partner in both endeavors) has designed the 70-seat café-style dining room, which boasts an intimate open kitchen and a large outdoor patio. Haley said the unpretentious décor will exemplify a marine palette of white, navy blue, gray and green. Boathouse charm will underscore the clean, open design.

An expertly trained staff full of faces familiar to the Bethany area (such as manager Erin Daley) will further elevate the dining experience.

Haley said SoDel Concepts’ belief in community education and involvement has its members looking forward to rekindling their relationship with the Bethany/Ocean View locals while celebrating the flavors of all Northeastern water towns.
