GOP women ask for action

At a meeting of the DelMarVa Republican Women, held at the Carousel Hotel in Ocean City, Md. on April 26, Delaware National Republican Committee Member Priscilla Rakestraw said that women can make a big difference in the 2006 elections.

“There’s no reason why both Maryland and Delaware can’t become Red states,” she said, “and if the women in our two states unite behind Republican candidates, it’s not only possible, but probable.”

The grand dame of the GOP, Mrs. Rakestraw ranks number 1 in seniority in the Republican National Committee, having been first elected to represent Delaware in 1976.

Formed in 1999, the DelMarVa Republican Women is a unique political organization that offers memberships to Republican women in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Associate memberships are also available to men. The club holds dinner meetings in the Ocean City area on the 4th Tuesday of each month.
