Deldeo finishes off St. Joe's academic and athletic career in style

Cara Marie Deldeo (Indian River High School) graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Joseph’s University Saturday, May 14, and was made a member of Phi Beta Kappa in recognition of high attainments in scholarship. She was first in her field of study and received the Interdisciplinary Health Services Award.

Deldeo has been named to the CoSiDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 Softball 1st Team all three years. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a key starter and carry a 3.2 or better cumulative grade point average. District 2 includes institutions from the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. Voting was conducted by the district’s sports information directors. First team selections are eligible for the national Academic All-American team.

The Hawk standout was honored for the third consecutive season as an Academic All-Atlantic 10 selection. While stellar in the classroom, Deldeo has provided consistency for the Hawks at shortstop over her four seasons. A career .301 batter, Deldeo ranks fourth all-time in program history with 107 runs and sixth in hits 170. She led St. Joseph’s with six home runs this season.

Deldeo will be attending Sage Graduate School in the fall.
