Shorebirds to raise money for cure

There will be two guest celebrities in the middle of the Shorebirds Memorial Day festivities who will be helping the team raise funds and awareness for The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter Eastern Shore Region. “Smallville” stars John Glover and Allison Mack will make an appearance at Perdue Stadium in Salisbury.

During the game the Delmarva Shorebirds will wear special “Smallville, Superman Jerseys” that fans will bid on to help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter.

After the jersey auction, fans will receive their signed game-worn jersey right off the players’ backs and get to meet Glover and Mack. The night will conclude with a fireworks show synchronized to a music inspired by “Smallville” and Superman.

Glover, a Salisbury native, plays “Lionel Luther” and Mack plays “Chloe Sullivan” on the WB show. Glover has made it his personal mission to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s a disease, which has affected his family. Born and raised on the Eastern Shore, Glover frequently makes stops on Delmarva speaking at many Alzheimer’s benefits.

The Shorebirds have also teamed up with The WAVE 92.1FM to run a radio-thon during the game, which will raise money for the cause.
