Frank Swainey Bennet Sr., 78, of Millville, died at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 28. He owned and operated J.S. Bennett & Son Inc., which provided 24-hour wrecker service and truck rentals and leasing.
He was a founding member of the Southern Delaware Towing Association and an honorary member of the Millville Fire Company. He also served as a council member and mayor of the town of Millville in the 1960s. He was also a member of the Doric Masonic Lodge of Millville, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and was a 32nd degree member of the Delware Consistory in Wilmington.
He is survived by his wife, Elva F. Bennet; two sons, Frank S. Bennett Jr. and Franklin S. Bennett; two daughters, Brenda Hodgeman and Suzette Powell; two sisters, Betty Evans and Gloria McCabe; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 3 at 1 p.m. at St. George’s United Methodist Church in Clarksville, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
