Peter B. Milloy, 80, died on Saturday, July 8, 2006. He was a former automobile dealer and lease company owner. He was nationally recognized for used car expertise. He served on the National Advisory Board for the Red Book for many years. He was general manager of two Cadillac dealerships for 18 years before opening his own independent dealership for thirty years handling Dodge, Saab, Subaru and bus leasing.
He attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, Georgetown Prep and Devitt Prep before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. During his naval service, Milloy was an early member of the Navy UDT and was assigned to the Pacific Naval Amphibious Forces. He participated in five major invasions; Philippines, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was in Japan two days after the Japanese surrendered in August 1945. There, he spent six months on occupation duty and mine sweep duty.
Milloy was awarded five battle stars, a Purple Heart and two Presidential Unit Citations. He was honorably discharge as Chief Gunner’s Mate.
Milloy graduated from Georgetown University Business Administration School, from which he matriculated in two and one half years by taking accelerated courses. During his Georgetown years, he played football and baseball. After graduation, he played semi-professional football and fast pitch softball for several years.
Milloy was an Honorary Life Member of Congressional Country Club and Rehoboth Beach Country Club. He was an avid scuba diver. As a certified advanced open water diver, he had over 800 dives in the Caribbean, Bahamas, North Carolina and Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 64 years. Together they had 10 wonderful children, 19 beautiful grandchildren, and Apollo, his beloved canine companion. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
