Marie E. Laws, 87, of Selbyville, Del., died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
“Marie was a mother to many, every ethnicity. It was just natural to her to be a mother. She was the matriarch of the family. If you told her where some greens could be found, you became her friend,” family members said. She retired as a nursing assistant for the Stockley Center in Millsboro. She was a member of the Zoar United Methodist Church, Selbyville.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail Laws Obas and Venetia White; her brother, Charles Adkins; her sister; Madeline Wilson; her sister-in-Laws, Cordelia Tyre, Louise Adkins, Myrtis Adkins and Mary Ann Adkins; her grandchildren, Andrea Obas, Ebony Morris and Shanae Laws; her great-grandchildren, Miya, Arianna, Aliyah, Obrian and Reuben and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Laws, who died in 2002.
Funeral services were scheduled for Friday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at Zoar United Methodist Church, Route 17, Selbyville, where friends may call one hour earlier, with interment at Curtis Cemetery, Bishopville, Md.
