James L. Smith of Dagsboro, and formerly of Potomac, Md., died July 10, 2006, at Harrison House in Georgetown. He was a retired deputy administrator for the Packers and Stockyards Administration of the USDA.
He served as a first lieutenant with the U.S. Army in the infantry in Korea.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan Sautter Smith; and two daughters, Nancy Smith and Margaret Clifton.
A mass of Christian Burial was to be held July 13, 2006, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association of Delaware, 321 East 11th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
