Leonard A. Jaskiewicz, 79, of Dagsboro, formerly of Arlington, Va., died Sept. 20, 2006, at home.

Jaskiewicz was a founding partner of the law firm Grove, Jaskiewicz and Cobert, and a former partner of Dow, Lohnes and Albertson. Jaskiewicz lived in Arlington, Va., from 1950 to 1992, when he retired and moved to Delaware. He was born in Norwich, Conn., and served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947, and in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1950 to 1962, resigning with the rank of major. He graduated from the University of Connecticut and received a master’s degree from the Maxwell School, Syracuse University and a juris doctor degree from the George Washington University Law School.

Jaskiewicz worked at the U.S. Navy Department from 1950 to 1953. He started his law firm in 1964, specializing in transportation and corporate law. He was a member of Washington Golf and County Club, Arlington, Va., and a member of Cripple Creek Golf and Country Club near Bethany Beach, Del., where he served as president in 2003. He was an avid golfer and made three holes-in-one.

He is by survived by three children, Jon M. Jaskiewicz, Barbara J. Bouchard and Virginia R. Rose; nine grandchildren: Jennifer, Benjamin, Melissa, Kathryn, Allison, Ellen, Phillip, Michael and Annalee. He is also survived by a brother, Edmund Jaskiewicz, and a companion, Charlotte Boeck. His wife, Ruth, predeceased him in 2003.

Funeral services will be private.
