Stephen C. Knox, 96, of Ocean View, passed away on his birthday, Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin, after a short illness.
He was born in Bethany Beach, the son of the late Harry and Linda Evans Knox. He served his country for 3.5 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was in Tokyo when they signed the peace treaty. He was a member of the Ocean View Church of Christ, Doric Lodge #30 and the Indian River Senior Center.
He was a charter boat captain for 37 years and named his boat “Indian.” During the winter months he worked as a carpenter and was known as a “workaholic” by his family. When he did have leisure time, he loved working around his home and he was a devoted family man.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Marjorie Murray Knox; daughter Carole Michaelson; granddaughter Wendy Giesbrecht of Texas; and great-grandson Mason Todd Giesbrecht.
Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd. in Ocean View. Interment was to follow at Mariner’s Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View.
