Wendy Irene Floyd, 33, died a tragic death Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at her residence in Hebron.
Born in Salisbury, Md., she was the daughter of Milt Warren and her stepmother, Geri Warren, of Selbyville and Irene Carter and her stepfather, Allen Carter, of Nanticoke, Md. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Salisbury University in 1991, where she was Magna Cum Laude, and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland in 1998. She was a member of Buckingham Presbyterian Church in Berlin and was employed as a social worker in foster care with the Wicomico County Health Department since 1995, when she was recognized as Social Worker of the Year. She was a very devoted mother and friend.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Scott Michael Floyd; beloved 5-year-old daughter, Ella Irene Floyd; a grandmother, Lillian Hurley; three stepsisters, Nicole Tharby, Tabitha Chaney and Tracy Pearce; a stepbrother, Nathan Cobb; seven cousins, Harry J. Warren, Caitey Tharby, Emily Grace Tharby, Billy McGlaughlin III, Robin Scholl, Kristy Merritt and Beth Doyle; an uncle, James E. Warren; an aunt, Yvonne Carroll; a very special friend, Melanie Tolley; several nieces and nephews and a special cat, Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Luther and Irene James, and her paternal grandparents, Elmer and Ruth Warren.
Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at noon at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, Md., with a visitation two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at the East New Market Cemetery in East New Market, Md.
