Louise F. Vaughn, 94, of Silver Spring, Md., formerly of Lewes, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Springbrook Adventist Nursing Center in Silver Spring, Md.
Vaughn was born in Lewes, daughter of the late James Thompson Futcher and Lydia Wilson Futcher. She was a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church of Midway for more than 80 years and was an ordained elder and a former adult-Sunday School teacher. Vaughn was also a lifetime member of Unity Chapter #16 O.E.S. of Lewes and a graduate of Lewes High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and an excellent cook and homemaker, family members said.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice W. Vaughn; a granddaughter, Linda S. Pride and her husband Lester A. “Rusty” Pride; a great-granddaughter, Tara Lee Pride and her husband Steve Williams; and two great-great-grandsons, Frederick Taylor Williams and Hunter Christopher Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Taylor Vaughn in 1963; two daughters, Mary Frances Vaughn in 1976 and Nancy V. Sturgis in 1997, and a son-in-law C. Frederick Sturgis in 1998.
An Eastern Star service was scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church of Midway, Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach, where a funeral service was to follow. Burial was to be in the adjoining church cemetery.
