Victoria DeSanctis Phillips, 89, formerly of Millville passed away on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, in Englewood, Fla. “Miss Vicki” was born July 11, 1917, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Alfredo and Carmella DeSanctis. In addition to being a wonderful mom, family members said, she served as president of the Lord Baltimore Community Club, president of the Republican Women’s Club and was founding member of the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Department’s Women’s Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Home Economics Club of Omar. Phillips enjoyed bridge, gardening, dancing and had a special fondness for substitute teaching in the Indian River School District. Her smile, good humor and malice toward none are her legacy, they said.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Tobe and her husband Larry; a son, Frank H. Phillips Jr. and his wife Brenda; six grandchildren, Robert Messick, Enddy Messick, Amber Yohe, Abbigail Phillips, Frank H. Phillips III, Jennifer Bails and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Phillips Sr., two brothers and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Route 26 in Bethany Beach, where friends and family could call Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View, Del. Interment will be held in St. George’s Cemetery, Clarksville.
