James P. Murray, Jr., 78, of North Bethany Beach passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006.
He was a true patriot, serving as a captain of the United States Air Force Reserve during the Korean War. Murray was a graduate of Yale University and the Georgetown University Law School. Murray retired from the United States government after 35 years of service as a deputy general counsel of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He was a member of the District of Columbia Bar and had previously been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Norma Powell Murray; three sons: James P. Murray III, Andrew J. Murray and John Murray; two daughters: Nancy Ruppert and Janine M. Gately; a sister, Ruth E. France and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Route 26 in Bethany Beach. Burial will be private.
