Loran Leroy Smith, age 90, of Gumboro, passed away on Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Md.
Born in Gumboro,. Smith was a retired foreman for C.C. Oliphant & Son in Laurel and a member of the Parkway Church of God in Salisbury.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Esta M. (Wharton) Smith; daughter Dolores A. Taylor; sons Ronald and N. Dean; nephew Gene Wharton, five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, T. Scott Dewey, Hannah Washburn, Kathryn Dewey, Kristina Miller, Kasandra LeGates, Joshua LeGates, Stephanie LeGates, Carol Ann Smith, Luke Smith, Sommer Smith, Foster Smith, Brooke Hunsinger and Aubrey Hunsinger; great-great-grandchild Madyson Washburn; brother, Richard Smith; and sisters, Isabel Meeker, Betty Jean Tice and Ruth Ann Tingle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Blanche (Cordrey) Smith; son, Robert L. Smith; brothers, Waldon and William Smith.
Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at the Parkway Church of God; interment was at Line Methodist Church Cemetery.
