James Patrick Sullivan, 79, of Ocean View, formerly of Seabrook, Md., passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes.
Born on March 16, 1927, he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the United States Army. Sullivan was a naval oceanographer for the United States government and traveled throughout Europe and South America, and went to Russia as part of a scientific exchange. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, a member of the Mason Dixon Post 7234 in Ocean View and the American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Antoinette (Laukaitis) Sullivan; children Kathleen Sullivan of Gambrills, Md., and James M. Sullivan of Odenton, Md.; grandchildren, Shannon Coven Kristina Lynch, Kathleen Quinn, Jason Baines and David John “D.J.” Baines; great-grandchildren, Dominik Lynch and Adrianna Lynch; sisters, Jo Ann Strock of Ellicott City, Md., and Patricia Rowland of Louisville, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick J. and Leota (Beal) Sullivan.
A mass of Christian burial was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, with interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
