Howard E. Melson, 88 of Dagsboro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, in Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.
He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the United States Air Force. Melson was a Bombardier on a B-24 and also a prisoner of war. He retired as a tech sergeant after 21 years with the Air Force. He then became a poultry grower and a school bus contractor. He was a member of the St. George’s United Methodist Church in Clarksville, the American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro, VFW Post #7422 in Millsboro, the Ex-Prisoners of War and the DAV.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanette (Elliott) Melson; sons Howard D. and Charles D. Melson; sister, Marie Evans of Newark; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Bessie Melson.
Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
