Paul G. Hunter, 80, of Bethany Beach, formerly of Bethesda, Md., passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007, at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Hunter was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired teacher at the Blessed Sacrament School, Arch Bishop Carroll High School and Gonzaga High School. He was an avid sports fan and during his teaching career he coached high school football, baseball and basketball. Hunter was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, American Legion Post #5 of Rehoboth Beach, and VFW Mason Dixon Post #7234 of Ocean View.
Hunter was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ann (Lee) Hunter. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Holmes) Hunter; children, Glenn Hunter and wife Joyce, Thomas Hunter and wife Lisa, Kathleen H. Kieffer and husband Steve; seven grandchildren, Brian, Patricia, Timothy, Andrew, Marykate, Coley and Maggie.
A memorial Mass was scheduled for Monday, March 5, 2007, with interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, in Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
