Charles William “Bill” Grabey, 83, of Millsboro, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at his home.
He was a graduate of Pine Grove High School, Class of 1942, and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Europe during World War II. He was employed as an armament technician for the 103rd Combined Support and Maintenance Shop, Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pa. Grabey was a member of the 103rd and 337th Pennsylvania National Guard, retiring in 1973. He was a life member of Pine Grove American Legion in Pine Grove, Pa. and the Rainbow Hose Co. in Schuylkill Haven. He was also a member of the Long Neck United Methodist Church, Jefferson Lodge F & A.M. in Lewes, AARP Chapter of Long Neck, the Indian River Senior Center, the American Legion Post 28 and an honorary member of the Lewes Radio Control Airplane Club.
Grabey was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Sarah (Huber) Grabey; and his wife, Alice Brown Grabey. He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Koch and her husband Allen of Hamburg, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Tanya Hawkins, and her husband Sean of Beahle Air Force Base in Calif.
A Masonic service is scheduled for Saturday, June 16, 2007, at 11 a.m., to be followed by the funeral service at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 18, at 11:30 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA 17003. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Long Neck United Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro DE 19966.
