Margaret L. ‘Peg’ Egan, 72

Dr. Margaret L. Egan, 72, known to her friends as “Peg,” passed away Monday, June 4, 2007, after surgery at Christiana Hospital. She had two master’s degrees and a doctorate from Harvard University. She spent her entire professional career in education, holding several positions in the Montgomery County Public School System, first as a teacher of French and eventually becoming principal at Eastern Middle School in Silver Spring, Md. Her last position was as executive assistant to the system’s superintendent. She retired to Bethany Beach, where she engaged in her favorite pastimes — reading, exercise and bridge.

Egan is survived by her brother Charles and his wife Mary of Kansas City, Mo.; five nephews, a niece and several grandnieces and -nephews.

Friends were invited to gather on Monday, June 25, 2007, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the home she loved in Ocean Farms on 12 Coral Lane, to celebrate her life and share memories of her with one another. Those wishing to remember her in some other concrete way could make a contribution to the American Diabetes Association. For information, contact Kay Ryan at (302) 537-6527.
