Douglas B. McCoach Jr., 70, of Bethlehem, Pa., passed away from cancer on Friday, July 6, 2007, at the VNA Hospice of St. Luke’s Hospital. He served his country in the Air National Guard. After earning a bachelor’s degree in engineering at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, he worked at the Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 43 years, retiring as the manager of facility development and capital appropriations.
He enjoyed membership in the Bethlehem Wine Group, and was a member of the Lehigh Valley Arts Council for many years. He volunteered at the Canal Museum in Easton and served as a member of the Phase 20 Council at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach. He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary R.C. Church, Whitehall.
McCoach was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas B. and Elizabeth (Earle) McCoach Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dorothy (Dammann) McCoach; a son, Douglas B. McCoach III and his wife Tina of Baltimore, Md., and their daughters, Kaitlyn and Kendall; and his daughter, Dr. Betsy McCoach and her husband Dr. Del Siegle of Mansfield, Ct.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary R.C. Church, 618 Fullerton Ave. in Whitehall. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St. in Bethlehem, and Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory to The National Canal Museum, 30 Centre Square, Easton PA 18042; or to the St. Elizabeth of Hungary R.C. Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall, PA 18052.
