Alice Adele Davidson, 66, of Blades, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 30, 2007. She was a member of the Seaford Wesleyan Church, “The Ark.” She was a homemaker, devoted to her family, and loved to cook and crochet.
Davidson was preceded in death by her parents, Dare Thompson and Doris Geissler Peterson Jr.; two brothers, Walter C. Peterson and Dare T. Peterson III; and a sister, Judith Ann Peterson. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, William W. Davidson Sr.; two sons, William W. Davidson Jr. and his wife Diane of Laurel, and Douglas C. Davidson of Blades; two daughters, Doris Melson and her husband of David of Seaford, and Kelly Sue Dunning and her fiancé Keith Harris of Bridgeville; three sisters, Ella M. Clough of Pennsville, N.J., Lillian “Winnie” Carey of Monmouth, Ore., and Janet R. LeVan of Millsboro; 13 grandchildren, Harold, Jamie, Elizabeth, Tyler, Chelsea, Karlee, Randall, Robert, Brandon, Daniel, Caitlyn, Christopher and Trey; six great-grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Shakira, Madison, Caleb, Little Trey and “two on the way”; brother-in-law, George E. Davidson and his wife Mary Sue of Eddyville, Ky.
Services were scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, with interment in Blades Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown DE 19947.
Pauline C. Drew, 94
Pauline C. Drew, 94, of Millsboro, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, Drew was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Jones Davis. She is survived by five grandchildren, Norman Davis, Brad Davis, Fred Davis, Tracey Davis and Joyce Bennett; nine great-grandchildren, Fred Davis III, Christopher Davis, Robin Davis, Jasmine Bennett, Amber Davis, Vincent Bennett Jr., Adam Davis, Jessica Davis and Brad Davis Jr.; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were scheduled for Monday, July 30, 2007, with interment in Union Wesley U.M. Church Cemetery in Clarksville.
Dorothy J. ‘Dot’ Ellis, 73
Dorothy J. “Dot” Ellis, 73, of Bishopville, Md., and Millsboro, Del., passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007, at her home in Millsboro with her family by her side. She fought cancer bravely and intensely for two and a half years before passing on from complications. Her battle was an inspiration to many who encountered her. Ellis was self-employed most of her life; her latest business being Pencil Peddler Office Supplies in Ocean City, Md. She donated many hours to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 166 in Ocean City and the Meals on Wheels program in lower Delaware.
Ellis was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Elizabeth Jones Robbins; three sisters, Ivy Messick, Faye Laird and Midge Wright. She is survived by three daughters, Sharrie Schlerf of Columbia, Md., Julie Donahue of Bishopville, Md. and Leslie Bunting Scott of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, James Robbins of Atlantic Beach, N.C.; five sisters, Shirley Dayton of Cambridge, Md., Eve Burchette of Loudon, Tenn., Sis Chalk of Westminster, Md., Louise Bradshaw of Trappe, Md. and Hazel Wilkerson of Rolling Rock, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Christopher Farlow, Carey Farlow, B.B. Oakley, Lizzie Donahue, Blair Donahue, Mattie Bunting and Jimmy Bunting; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was scheduled for Thursday, July 26, 2007. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are sent to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown DE 19947.
Daisie E. Gray, 94
Daisie E. Gray, 94, of Bishopville, Md., passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md. “Miss Daisie,” as she was affectionately known, was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church in St. Martin’s Neck. She was an avid gardener known throughout the area for her vegetable stand and her homemade sweet pepper relish. She enjoyed flowers, working in the garden and crocheting.
Gray was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ida Baker. She is survived by two daughters, Betty L. Duncan of Selbyville and Bonnie L. Sturgis of Millsboro; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, July 30, 2007, with interment in Bishopville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Zion United Methodist Church, c/o Sandra Venable, 11213 Beverly St., Bishopville MD 21813.

Elizabeth L. Murray, 86, of Selbyville, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007, at home. She was the owner/operator of Murray’s Rooms in Selbyville. She enjoyed word puzzles and reading.
Murray was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alice Simpson Moore; husband, Halton I. Murray; brothers and sisters, George Moore, Ernest Moore, William Moore, Mary Helen Johnson, Violet Short and Dorothy Dorey. She is survived by her children, Joseph L. Murray and his wife Stella of Springfield, Pa., and Connie Sausman of Millsboro; grandchildren, Diana and Eric Lande of Doylestown, Pa., Robin and Kirk Smith of Mason, N.H., Kevin Murray of Langhorne, Pa., John and Shannon Sausman of Franklinville, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Peter, James, Sophia, Sabrinia and Judah; sister, Edith Atkins of Dagsboro.
