Joyce Ann Goodman, 60

Joyce Ann Goodman, 60, of Millsboro, departed this life peacefully Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at Coastal Hospice by the Lake in Salisbury, Md. She was a domestic worker in the Ocean City area, where she recently retired from the Castle in the Sand Hotel. She attended St. Matthew’s Baptist Church in Bishopville, Md., where she was an usher and sang in the choir. She loved to shop.

Goodman was preceded in death by her parents, Lenford Handy Jr. and Margaret Handy Savage; and her husband, Daniel Goodman. She is survived by five sons, Devin, Kendall and Michael Handy, all of Millsboro, Keith Handy of Smyrna and Anthony Goodman of Greenwood; three daughters, Abigail Goodman of Wilmington, Kim Goodman Peed of El Paso, Texas and Allison Goodman of Pittsville, Md.; stepfather, Clarence Savage of Bishopville, Md.; one brother, Woodrow Higgins of Bishopville; four sisters, Urseline Hallet and her husband John of Bishopville, Zakiyya Salahudin and her husband Rick of Selbyville, Fredia Eley and her husband Lee of Milton and Felicia Johnson and her husband Ronnie of Bishopville; great aunt, Grace Taylor; aunt, Oneida Purnell; uncle, Leonard Higgins and aunt Deborah Higgins; godmother, Mildred Handy; godsons, Rasheem Handy and Kendrick Bailey; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Larry Lee Johnson; two special friends, Josephine Felton and Marie Wallop; and many other friends and relatives.

Services were scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, with interment in Zoar Golden Acres Cemetery in Bishopville, Md.

Kathy J. Goff LeCates, 57

Kathy J. Goff LeCates, 57, of Millsboro, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at home. She had recently started working at Jeff’s Greenhouses in Bethel as a floral designer; she was a designer all her life, since working with her parents in their florist shop years ago. In addition to being an excellent floral designer, she loved her grandchildren, and loved to read and make jewelry.

LeCates was preceded in death by her parents, Willie E. and Agnes M. Bass Goff. She is survived by two daughters, Danika Swan of Wilmington and Montera L. Dorsey of Millsboro; two brothers, Willie E. Goff Jr. of Greenwood and John K. Goff of Millsboro; two sisters, Cheryl Ellwanger and Beverly West, both of Millsboro; and eight grandchildren, Adrian, Olivia, Quinn, Jozias, Juliana, Jacob, Jeradus and Samuel.

Services will be private and at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions by made in her memory to the National Wildlife Federation, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston, VA 20190-5362.

Ruth G. Peck, 81

Ruth G. Peck, 81, of Jensen Beach, Fla., formerly of Millsboro, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Martin Nursing and Restorative Care Center in Stuart, Fla. Prior to retirement, she was a tax accountant for H.B. Mitchell & Son in Millsboro for more than 20 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro before moving to Florida.

Peck was preceded in death by her parents, Harold A. and Gladys I. Gardner; and one brother. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Alice Peck of Fort Worth, Texas; and two grandchildren, Jack and Zoe.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro, Del.

Gino James Seppi, 87

Gino James Seppi, 87, of Dagsboro, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1939 to 1947. He served in the 2nd Marine Division in World War II, receiving the Purple Heart for wounds sustained at Guadalcanal. Seppi was a member of the VFW, DAV and NAFE and also was a longstanding member of the VFW Post in Lanham, Md. He moved to Dagsboro in 1979 after retiring from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a cabinet maker for many years.

Seppi was preceded in death by his parents, Giacianto and Valeria Peiffer Seppi; and his wife, Phoebe Parks Seppi. He is survived by his son, Henry Seppi and his wife Kathleen of Georgetown; a brother, Bruno Seppi and his wife Martha of Bowie, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, with interment in the Hamilton Cemetery, Oak Hill, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Russell J. Townsend, 83

Russell J. Townsend, 83, of Pittsville, Md., passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Md. He had been a poultry farmer for many years.

Townsend was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Donoway Townsend. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Roberta V. Townsend; a daughter, Patricia Foskey of Pittsville, Md.; two step-sons, Rick Wheeler of Salisbury, Md. and Steve Wheeler of Berlin, Md.; a step-daughter, Helen Johnson of Sherbun, N.Y.; five sisters, Hazel Evans, Mary Dinges and Irma Pruitt, all of Berlin, Md., Louise Butcher of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Edna Rickards of Salisbury, Md.; a grandson, James A. Foskey of Willards, Md.; a special friend, Dr. Atif Zeeshan and his wife; seven step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, with interment in Pittsville Cemetery, Pittsville, Md.
