Davis E. “Dave” Collins, 64, of Frankford, Del., passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury, Md. He had worked for the Delaware Department of Corrections for 24 years as a correctional officer at Sussex Correctional Institute in Georgetown, Del., retiring in 2005. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ethel Osborne Collins; and a sister, Violet Holmes. He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Collins; a son, David A. Collins of Frankford; a daughter, Donielle L. Brasure and her husband Chris of Roxana, Del.; a brother, Douglas Collins of Coudersport, Pa.; two sisters, Venne Dixon of West Grove, Pa., and Lucile Correri of Havre De Grace, Md.; and a granddaughter, Hannah Brasure.
A funeral service was scheduled for Wednesday, February 27, 2008, with interment in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations by made to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
